Issue No 60 contains more recommended wines from 2020, a look-back at the 2020 vintage, a look-back at the 2021 Auctions (with more tasting notes) and a sneak preview of the 2021 vintage!
We complete our report on the 2020 vintage with further tasting notes, including some of the finest Riesling and Pinot Noir we have tasted over the last year.
After having tasted 1,500 wines, many several times, we look back at the filigreed 2020 vintage with the full benefit of hindsight and put forward our list of not-to-be-missed “Vintage Highlights” for each stylistic direction, i.e. dry Riesling, off-dry Riesling, Kabinett, Spätlese, Auslese, and noble-sweet wines.
For the first time, the annual Auctions took place in November last year. How did they fare? We look back at these three events and complete the set of wines with further tasting notes, in particular from the VDP Auction in Bad Kreuznach.
What does 2021 have in store? Although it is still early, 2021 looks like a return to the 1990s or even the 1980s, a time when also some truly great wines were made. Is there a chance for such a repeat? Here a sneak preview of what is to come!
