This 100-page strong Issue includes Part III of our extensive 2021 Vintage Report, Part II of our 2021 dry German Riesling report, and a look-back at the Auctions.
The 2021 proved marked by rain and cool weather and yet delivered some absolute stunner cut along the mold of past glories.
We review the growing conditions, describe the wine styles, and share our buying guide!
Part I of the Vintage Report includes 14 detailed Estate Reviews (with 220 wines sampled). It also provides detailed tasting notes for another 120 wines from a further 20 Estates. The report also includes recent releases from recent vintages (2020, 2019, and 2018).
On top of classics from great established Estates, we also unearthed some beauties from upcoming and still largely unknown new growers.
The part II of our 2021 dry German Riesling report includes an overview (with our buying guide) of this remarkable vintage which, at least on paper, could have led to scores of elegant wines but which, in fact proved quite challenging for many. We also provide another 80 tasting notes from 30 Estates.
The 2022 Auctions (VDP Mosel, Bernkasteler Ring, and VDP Nahe-Ahr-Pfalz-Rheinhessen) held last September saw some (relative) bargains but also many very high prices. We look back at these unique events and share some additional tasting notes of some of the finest Riesling on earth.
