This 130-page strong Issue covers Part III of our extensive 2019 Vintage Report with over 500 wines tasted from the Mosel and the whole of Germany. Here is what is in store.
2019 was anything but easy ... but at the top, the vintage is epic and up there, with the finest classic vintages of the region.
However, this is only at the top: The vintage was also ripe and it was all too easy to end up with creamy powerful wines marked by the sun. More than ever, advise will be key to buy smartly in 2019.
This Part III of our vintage report covers over 10 detailed Estate Reviews(with 170 wines sampled). It also provides detailed tasting notes for another 200 recommended wines from a further 40 Estates, including from some new names we bet you have never heard of as well as most high-end dry Riesling (GG & equivalent).
2019 proved a rather contrasted vintage for dry German Riesling as growers needed to handle intensity, zest, and ripeness. We highlight over 160 recommended wines from all leading German growers.
The annual Auctions took place in September 2020 at which leading German growers sell some of their finest wines. We look back at these events which saw some bargains, high prices, and strange price formations.
