This 95-page strong Issue includes Part II of our extensive 2018 Vintage Report with 400 tasting notes including of the wines from the upcoming Mosel Auctions. Here is what is in store.
2018 saw some glorious weather with essentially sunshine from April to October. But the vintage was far from easy. Never have we seen such disparity between the top growers and the rest. Some growers completely defied the ripe and round nature of the vintage and produced stellar wines. Many did however only produce very good and ripe wines.
Part I of the Vintage Report includes 12 detailed Estate Reviews (with 200 wines sampled). It also provides detailed tasting notes for another 110 recommended wines from a further 13 Estates.
The 2019 Auctions will take place later this September and offer wine lovers the possibility to acquire some of the finest casks of Mosel Riesling. We provide a detailed background as well as full detailed tasting notes for the wines on offer.
The winemakers of the historic E. Christoffel-Berres Estate acquired and now release the remaining stock from the 1990s (and earlier) of this great founding member of the VDP. We feature 18 of these beautiful library releases.
After a background article on Sekt published in the Mosel Fine Wines Issue No 30 (Mar 2016), we have sampled some stunning new releases over the last few months.
“Where can I access mature Mosel Riesling?” As an answer to this regular question of our readers, we provide here detailed tasting notes for some superb mature Riesling still commercially available at the Estate.
