This stunning Spätlese stood out in an overall highly successful collection of 2007er Riesling by Weingut Fritz Haag.
As we reported in September in our Mosel Fine WInes Auction Report 2008, Oliver Haag from Weingut Fritz Haag produced a smashing collection of auction wines in 2007.
Also his "regular" portfolio of 2007er wines proves hugely impressive at the annual presentation of the Grosser Ring / VDP Mosel in June 2008. It is clearly one of the great successes in this vintage. Within the portfolio, the 2007er Brauneberger Juffer-Sonnenuhr Spätlese really stood out then and is highly recommended.

This wine offers great finesse and excellent zest. It opens with a great nose of sappy fresh peaches that just fills the glass and explodes literally out of it. The complexity on the palate is stunning and yet at the same time, it is a wine that drinks so easily with already an excellent balance between acidity and sweetness. It captures so well the essence of elegance and playfulness of Mosel wines in a style so typical of this Estate and of this vineyard. This is a candidate for the Spätlese of the vintage (if one excludes the auction bottlings). There is still a touch of sweetness in the finish but this should melt away nicely with time. Now-2025
